Anticancer Drugs And Its Effects On Cancer Cells - 1472 Words

Abstract Many attempts were made to treat different kinds of cancer, the problem was the lack of specificity of anticancer drug towards cancer cells resulting in severe side effects, but with the new system for drug delivery system –the nanoparticles –this problem could be avoided. Nanoparticles are very small particles from 1 to 100 nm with different shapes and sizes made of variety of materials .Nanoparticles have many applications in different aspects especially medicine including therapy and diagnosis. Nanoparticles that used in therapy and diagnosis are called theranotics . The most important application of nanoparticles†¦show more content†¦(Wilczewska et al., 2012) What are nanoparticles ? Nanoparticles are very small particles measured in nanometers and ran- ge from 1 to 100 nm they have different shapes spheres ,rods ,cubes, and caps. Nanoparticles can be made of variety of materials such as gold , platinum , and iron dioxide .(Faraji and Wipf, 2009) . Applications of nanoparticles : Nanoparticles are used in different aspects including medicine. In medicine nanoparticles can be used in immunology , oncolo- gy , endocrinology ,ophathalmology ,†¦.etc. In addition to all these areas nanoparticles can also be used in more specialized areas such as brain targeting , tumor targeting ,and gene delivery . Further applications of nanoparticles technique include their use as carriers for sustained and controlled drug delivery, active and passive delivery of bioactives , vaccine delivery , and gene silencing (Faraji and Wipf, 2009) . In order to solve cancer problems, a variety of anticancer drugs produce that can treat or target carcinoma cells or discover tumor growth in human tissue (Colditz 2015). 5- Fluorouracil (5-FU) and Cetuximab are important examples of anticancer medicine; therefore, it is important to understand the drug target and mechanism of action of anticancer drugs. The main purpose of this essay isRead MoreAnticancer Drugs : The Treatment Of Malignant Or Malignant Disease1642 Words   |  7 PagesAnticancer drugs are that are effective in the treatment of malignant or cancerous disease. These are known as antineoplastic drugs also. The drugs are involved in cancer treatment are several types. Such as-- †¢ Alkylating agents – busulfan, mechlorethamine etc. †¢ Antimetabolites – methotrexate, 6 mercaptopurine,5 fluorouracil etc. †¢ Natural products –vinca alkaloids, taxanes †¢ Hormones –tamoxifen, progestins These groups have also sub types. Without these common drugs nowadays a variety ofRead MoreThe Effects Of Electrical Current On The Bacterial Bacteria1000 Words   |  4 Pagesthe biological use cisplatin whilst conducting an experiment on the effects of electrical current on the bacterial E.coli (Escherichia coli). When the electrical current was turned on, it was observed that the cell division was inhibited causing a decline in the density of the bacterium. However, when the electrical field was turned off, the bacterium returned to its normal density. It was later found that the inhibition of cell division was not due to the electrical current but rather the productionRead MoreRole of Gluthathione Pathway in Discovering Anticancer Compound793 Words   |  3 PagesCancer, a type of horrifying disease indicated by the uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells into lumps called tumors (Peter Crosta, 2013). Tumors on the other hand can be classified into benign and malignant, depends on their harmfulness to the body. Several factors contribute to the incidence of cancer or increase the risk of getting cancer, these include mutations of DNA, hereditary factor, carcinogens and induced by other medications (Peter Crosta, 2013). The incidence rate of cancers is increasingRead MoreChemotherapy Research Papers830 Words   |  4 Pagessimulates chemical process and reaction of tumors with chemotherapy drugs. It is a possible tool for screening anticancer drugs before approving them for treatment. There are many different types of chemotherapy drugs, so clinicians may be able to narrow down which ones are likely to be more effective than others. Successful drug delivery and overcoming drug resistance are the primary clinical challenges for management and treatment of cancer. To address this problem, we developed the tumor-microenvironment-on-chipRead MoreCancers Presence in the World1598 Words   |  6 PagesCancer represents a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, accounting for 8.2 million deaths in 2012. According to the last World Health Organization report, It reveals that it is expected that the global burden of cancer will rise from an estimated 14 million new cases per year in 2012 to 22 within the next two decades because of the aging and growth of the world population and an increasing adoption of cancer-causing behaviors. Lung, liver, stomach, colorectal and breast cancersRead MoreAnticancer Properties of Piper Betle Leaves Active Compounds1607 Wo rds   |  7 PagesColorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the world (World Cancer Research Fund International). Colostomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and biological therapy are among the most common treatment for colorectal cancer. These treatments may be used by itself or in combination. One of the most commonly used drugs for the treatment of colorectal cancer is 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). 5-FU is a cell cycle–specific, S-phase–dependent fluorinated pyrimidine analogue (Yim, et al., 2006). Due to its shortRead MoreDevelopment Of Drug Design : A New Anticancer Drug1102 Words   |  5 PagesFAMOUS SCIENTIST REVIEW Development of Drug Design Scientists aim to produce a new anticancer drug which will meet all requirements by exploring and understanding the structure and reactivity of the molecule. It is specifically focused on transition metal-based anticancer drug. Transition metals have unique properties and reactivity. They have different oxidation state which able them to interact with molecules of different negative charges. The metals are co-ordinated by different ligands whichRead MoreAnticanbar Drugs1617 Words   |  7 Pagestreatment of many diseases, particularly cancer, substantial attention is presently focused on the use of drugs without side effects and to study the underlying mechanisms of their actions. Precisely, the action of endogenous enzymatic antioxidants capable of eliminating the oxidants and free radicals accountable for cancer initiation and progression, have been extensively debated [27]. Molecular uncovering of the antioxidant physiognomies of different anticancer drugs in addition to food and environmentalRead MoreCancer Therapies And The Lack Of Effectiveness1254 Words   |  6 Pagesreview will provide a brief investigation of current cancer therapies and the lack of effectiveness that these treatments provide while treating the disease. The aim of this review is to discuss the urgent need to develop new and effective cancer therapy options that can bridge the gap between the various types of cancer and effective cancer targeting. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments are commonly used as treatment options against cancer; however, one of the negative consequences is the possibility
